Brief Descriptions
- Basic QwikCD - boots a diskless Linux OS for Intel 386 and higher processors.
It automatically logs in a terminal as root. It is useful for basic system discovery, system repair, and other kernel functions.
No other devices are mounted, including the hard disk drive, which can only be accessed if YOU mount it.
This system is terminal based.
- Disk QwikCD - is similar to the Basic QwikCD. This system will automatically use a hard disk drive if one is
available and has been previously configured by the QwikCD system.
If the system finds an unconfigured disk when booting, the user has the choice of configuring it with a
swap partition and /root partition or leaving it untouched. Note: If the system is allowed to configure a HDD,
it destroy all data on it.
This system is terminal based.
- Firewall QwikCD- was built specifically for firewall use, this QwikCD will automatically configure
itself as an iptables firewall on loading. As it loads, the system seaches for firewall configuration data stored on a
floppy disk. This system is designed for maximum security as all configuration data can be protected with
the use of a 'read-only' floppy. The system can be restored to a pristine state with a simple reboot.
The README file describes configuration and floppy disk use in further detail. This system is terminal based.
- Gnome-Disk QwikCD- provides a Gnome-based windowing environment. The system contains logic to configure
a hard disk drive or
recognize and use a previously configured hard disk drive containing user data.
The system provides popular applications such as Mozilla Firefox, a web browser, and Evolution, an email client.
This system was originally developed by Qwik.Net systems for use by charitable groups providing used computers to children.
It is great for Internet access and as a inexpensive alternative to Microsoft Windows.
This system is GUI (x11) based.
- Office-Disk QwikCD- is built on Gnome-Disk. It adds the features of OpenOffice,
a free alternative to Microsoft Office.
