Qwik.Net DSL Speed Tests

Local loop speed tests. There are four files on this server for this test. They are

50 kbyte random binary file
500 kbyte random binary file
5 mbyte random binary file

These files can be downloaded to a scratch file with any web browser such as Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator. The browser will usually give an approximate download speed in kilobytes per second(KB/sec). Multiply this speed times 10 to get the download speed in bits per second. If you have a high speed connection, use the 500 kbyte file or the 5 mbyte file to get a better approximation.

For aDSL 768/128, the 500 kilobyte download should take about 6.5 seconds from the time you click on the download button. For an accurate time, use a stop watch and not the browser's timer.

For aDSL 768/128, the 5 megabyte download should take about 65 seconds from the time you click on the download button. For an accurate time, use a stop watch and not the browser's timer.

For a speed test over a larger section of the Internet, try a nation test site such as Broadband Reports site.
