The Xerxes Project
Is Xerxes open source?
Yes - it is a fork from other open source programs such as Web-Cyradm.
License information is contained in each program.
Is Xerxes free?
Yes... and No -
Xerxes certainly wasn't entirely free to us.
We paid, and continue to pay, a contractor named ComputerMAX, Inc ( www.cmax2.com )
to develop, debug, maintain, and adapt it.
We are pretty sure that ComputerMAX, in turn, paid its employees, electric bill, rent, etc.
But, seriously, there is no charge by us to download and/or use Xerxes e-mail management or SQLWhite.
Where can I get a copy of Xerxes e-mail manager?
As code becomes available, it will be posted on this site under downloads and on
Sourceforge.
I don't want to build the whole system just to try it.
Can I get a demo of Xerxes e-mail manager?
No... and Yes - We are in the process of building a live CD demo of Xerxes.
It is being built on Fedora and includes everything necessary to demo a complete, operational mail system.
Postfix, Cyrus-Imap, MySQL, SQLWhite, etc. all will be included.
What is SQLWhite?
SQLWhite is a Postfix policy server.
It checks a blacklist/whitelist data base built and maintained by Xerxes.
SQLWhite is intended to allow an e-mail domain
administrator to unconditionally bypass blacklist processing by Postfix. This means
that a specific e-mail address or domain that is normally blocked by a service like SORBS, can be received.
In addition, e-mail addresses or domains can be unconditionally blocked from reception.
